Presumptive Eligibility Expanded
to Include Children up to 350% of the Federal Poverty Level

Effective July 1, 2005, Presumptive Eligibility will be expanded to include children whose household incomes are between 201% and 350% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

This means that beginning July 1, 2005, you may complete Presumptive Eligibility applications for all children who meet the eligibility requirements for NJ FamilyCare. While you may begin completing and mailing Presumptive Eligibility applications for children whose family incomes are between 20% and 350% of the FPL, the computer system modifications that will allow the Presumptive Eligibility Unit to process these applications may not be completed by July1. Therefore, the Presumptive Eligibility Unit will hold these applications in a tickler file until such time as they can be processed. When these cases are processed, you will receive acknowledgment letters just as you do currently informing you of the Presumptive Eligibility determinations. The effective date for Presumptive Eligibility will be retroactive to the date of the NJ FamilyCare/Presumptive Eligibility application.
