|2017 Quality Forum|
Members of NJ Federally Qualified Health Centers (NJ FQHCs) convened for the 2017 NJPCA Quality Forum last Friday, April 7th. With over 80 FQHC members present and representation from 80% of the NJ FQHCs, the quality forum was well attended with an increase in participation from prior years. The Quality Forum offered to attendees a breath of clinical activities through sponsorship from Aetna. NJPCA would like to give special thanks to Aetna for their generosity and support of the mission of the NJPCA and the NJ FQHCs.
During the NJPCA Quality Forum, NJ FQHC members mingled with their colleagues, the NJPCA Team, RWJ partners, New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians and guest speakers. This year’s Quality Forum featured speaker Dr. Yvonne Johnson, who provided attendees with a thorough overview of the HRSA 19 requirements to help health centers achieve a successful site review. Dr. Johnson shared the joy she has had over the years in working with the NJ FQHCs and having personally been involved in the successful site visit of some of the health centers. Dr. Johnson encouraged attendees to continue their great work and challenged them to apply tools from her presentation to achieve a successful site review.
Following Dr. Johnson’s presentation, attendees participated in one of three workshops provided by healthcare experts in three focus areas; Colorectal Cancer, Dr. Alvaro Carrascal, American Cancer Society, Diabetes Quality Care, Dr. Meena Murthy, St. Peters University Hospital and Target BP, Dr. Rina Ramirez, Zufall Health Center who co-presented with Margaret Cammereiri, American Heart Association. Workshop participants received presentations from leading healthcare experts and engaged in workshop discussions and activities to strengthen their clinical knowledge base of colorectal cancer, diabetes and hypertension (Target BP).
Participates of the Quality forum enjoyed viewing Storyboards and learning of all the great work being done at the FQHCs. Heath Centers from across the State provided wonderful Storyboards chronicling a successful integration of services and/or initiatives within different health centers. Winners of this year’s Storyboards includes Monmouth Family Health center in first place, Zufall Health Center in Second place and the Visiting Nurse Association of Central New Jersey Community Health Center in third place. Aetna members Victor Pupo, Mary Hanft and Michelle Rubino served as guest judges and selected Storyboard winners. NJPCA provided winners with a prize for their outstanding Storyboard. With a chance to interact with key health industry leaders, participation of generous Sponsors, engaging presentations, informational peer work group meetings and a captivating audience, the Quality Forum was truly a day to remember.
