On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law, putting in place comprehensive reforms that improve access to affordable health coverage for everyone and protect consumers from abusive insurance company practices. On June 28, 2019, Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation to establish a State-Based Health Exchange in New Jersey. The Get Covered New Jersey platform launched in 2020.
HEALTH INSURANCE OUTREACH AND ENROLLMENT
New Jersey Health Centers have a critical role in educating the public and signing them up for health insurance. This effort is called outreach and enrollment. As providers of healthcare, Community Health Centers continuously educate and assist patients in determining their eligibility for state, federal, or community programs. NJPCA, in turn, assists Health Centers in their outreach and enrollment team members through technical and training assistance.
INSURING OUR NEIGHBORS
We know that if our neighbors are healthy, we have healthier communities, that makes all New Jerseyeans healthier. Better than a cup of sugar, we’re helping our neighbors with health insurance enrollment assistance.
As CDOs, each FQHC provides free enrollment assistance into the Health Insurance Marketplace and NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid/CHIP) to their patients and community members.
